LANIE IS COMING HOME!!!!

Lanie's case just got out of the Guatemalan courts last week! This was the big unknown in the process. The courts could take1 month or 9 months to process her case. We were blessed and it only took a little over 7 weeks. Now their birthmother has to sign her consent to finalize the adoption and then a new birth certificate with the name Maria Estela Slawikowski has to be issued. Our attorney in Guatemala will then get her a passport made and all our paperwork will go back to the US Embassy for a visa appointment. We dont know when our appointment will be but our agency thinks within the next 6-8 weeks. We should get about 1-2 weeks warning before our appointment date to make travel arrangements. Once she gets home we will have her name legally changed to Elena Maria Slawikowski.
